# Research with a clear question

A research teammate can work through web pages, supplied documents, and connected-app material to answer a focused question. Define the source boundary and the decision the research will support.

## Set the scope

Provide the question, relevant date range, and any sources that must be included. If you are asking for changes since an earlier review, give the previous date or exact revision.

## Make the output useful

Ask for a recommendation, comparison table, or concise brief with evidence. Separate facts in the source from the teammate's interpretation. For a large task, assign source gathering and critique to different teammates in a [group](/docs/capabilities/group-conversations).

## Review freshness and coverage

Open the important sources. Check publication dates, whether the source actually supports the claim, and whether a missing document could change the conclusion. Ask what could not be accessed.
